چکیده

The paper describes an application of the numerical optimization methods for the design of non-adaptive multisensor arrays. The parameters and the geometry of such arrays do not change with changes in the input signals, and must be chosen in advance, depending on the array application. Generally, the goal of a non-adaptive multisensor array may be numerically expressed through its pattern function which shows the gain for a signal coming from a particular direction in space. The real pattern function depends on the geometry of the array and on the processing which signals from every sensor undergo. The array pattern function is non-linear and it is frequency dependent. The difference between the goal pattern function and the real pattern function is the essence of numerical optimization. The geometry and the processing parameters of the multi-sensor array are optimized to provide the minimum difference over a specified frequency range. Such minimization is a difficult non-linear and multi-parameter problem . Optimization results for several goal functions for multi-microphone arrays are provided and discussed.

Numerical Near Field Optimization of Weighted Delay-and-Sum Microphone Arrays

A novel concept for the determination of the weighting coefficients for weighted delay-and-sum microphone arrays is introduced in this contribution. The concept is based on a numerical optimization of the reception characteristic of the microphone array. The optimization procedure is shown to improve the reception characteristic in such a way that it closely approximates a target which can be d...

Numerical optimization for loudspeaker and microphone arrays

Arrays of loudspeakers are often used for sound reinforcement in large concert halls, auditoria, houses of worship and outdoor events. Arrays of microphones have long been used in applications such as sonar and tomography, and are becoming more important for things like teleconferencing. Global optimization techniques such as Stochastic Region Contraction can be combined with previously develop...

On Efficiency of Non-Monotone Adaptive Trust Region and Scaled Trust Region Methods in Solving Nonlinear Systems of Equations

In this paper we run two important methods for solving some well-known problems and make a comparison on their performance and efficiency in solving nonlinear systems of equations‎. ‎One of these methods is a non-monotone adaptive trust region strategy and another one is a scaled trust region approach‎. ‎Each of methods showed fast convergence in special problems and slow convergence in other o...

Microphone Arrays

Such techniques—known collectively as beamforming—have been the subject of intense interest in recent years within the acoustic array processing research community. Unfortunately, such techniques have been largely ignored in the mainstream automatic speech recognition field, although this may rapidly change given the recent release and widespread popularity of the Microsoft Kinect R © platform....

شکل‌دهی وفقی و هوشمند پرتو در آرایه‌های میکروفونی Ad-hoc با استفاده از خوشه‌بندی و رتبه‌بندی میکروفون‌ها

Considering the existence of a many speech degradation factors, speech enhancement has become an important topic in the field of speech processing. Beamforming is one of the well-known methods for improving the speech quality that is conventionally applied using regular (classical) microphone arrays. Due to the restrictions in the regular arrangement of microphones, in recent years there has be...
